BitTorrent, the company behind the technology that allows thousands of daily share all kinds of files for free over the Internet, has decided to take a new direction. The executive director of marketing, Matt Mason, has said that plans are "aligned with the entertainment industry and start distributing movies, music and books on legal form." It's clear that BitTorrent wants to prove he can become more than just a company that offers free downloads. For now, the two main software client of the firm, which are the namesake and known BitTorrent? Torrent, have a total of 160 mill0nes users worldwide.
BitTorrent says that about 40 million users are active on a daily basis, which is much more than those with services like Netflix and Hulu combined. Viewing things in this scenario, no wonder a company planning to become fully certified. "It's a constant change. People do not know that we are a company. They think that we are two teen in a basement in Sweden, "said Mason.
What is troubling to many is obviously cutting free download service, which is why the company is so successful.
