Researchers seek life under Antarctic ice

To prove that life can exist even in the most inhospitable conditions, a group of British researchers are ready to start making a hole depth of 3km on a glacier of Lake Ellsworth in Antarctica. If all goes as expected, will commence operations on the 12th of this month.
There are almost 3700 subglacial lakes in Antarctica and Lake Ellsworth is one of them. The main objective of this research is to find living organisms that carry millions of years under a thick layer of ice. If this is successful, scientists could get more clues about the evolution of life not only on Earth, but also on other planets.
Researchers will be the South Pole to the month of January, ie spend the holidays of the year away from their families.
