On Wednesday, a group of anonymous members launched a search engine that indexes file uploaded to Mega, the new file-sharing service for Kim Dotcom launched two weeks ago. Because this search was made easier the task of finding illegal files on Mega.

On Thursday, less than 24 hours before the search was launched, Dotcom and had seen to block it. The search engine, called mega-search.me, no longer available but it seems that its creators are seeking an alternative.

Because Mega files are encrypted, the browser only had a way to index files: crowdsourcing, ie require users to give to know the links of the files you have uploaded to their accounts. Once the search was what we wanted, we could take it to our account or download directly Mega.

It is unclear who created the form in question, but it seems that was a group of French people. Ira Rothken, Dotcom's lawyer said that Mega is unrelated to the search engine.
