Drive SDK allows you to use Google cloud apps from Android and IOS



The second version of Google Drive SDK adds a new API to allow developers to make use of cloud storage from both Android applications, as for IOS. In addition, the web version also includes enhancements like the ability to convert formats, copy or share files with users.

Last April, Google announced the first version of Google Drive SDK along with a wide range of applications. On Wednesday, during the conference Google I/O 2012-that the Mountain View celebrated these days in San Francisco, the team has submitted the next version of the SDK for Google Drive, with a series of updates that include an extension of the API, simplified development experience and support of mobile applications.

According to the developers of Google Blog, the new Google API for Drive exposes all standard file operations and methods of listings and searches files, format conversion, copying files, managing reviews and share files with users.

They have also introduced comprehensive support for Android and iPhone OS applications using the SDK for Google Drive and having an ally to the cloud. Android developers and IOS can make use of cloud storage directly from their mobile applications. Thus, third-party applications can take advantage of the virtual space to download, upload or edit at any time.

"Mobile applications can use the API for Drive to read and write files directly to Google Drive. Users also can click on Open with on their mobile devices to view or edit the content from your smartphone or 'tablet' as they do from the web ", say the developers.

The new version of Drive SDK is already available on the Google developer.
