Various Yahoo! services will be discontinued this month

http://i.imgur.com/GDTxu8Q.jpg

A month ago I commented that Google had released a list of services that would be killed in the coming months, among which is included the popular Google Reader. It seems that the search engine company is not the only one who is dedicated to making this type of "cleaning" for Yahoo! follow their steps. By the end of this month of March, it was announced that several Yahoo! services would be discontinued and released under. These services include: Yahoo Kids, Yahoo Deals, Mail and Messenger (the latter two at the phone) and SMS Alerts.
Yahoo! believes that giving low these services have more time to focus on creating new and attractive services for users. Recall that a few days ago was released Yahoo Weather application for iPhone and Yahoo Mail app for the iPad.
The above services will no longer be active from April 30 onwards, so the company has made the announcement a few days in advance so that the users they are prepared for change.
Are there any services from that named you wish it was not discontinued?

Flickr also adds filters to photos

http://i.imgur.com/PwaB6.jpg

This seems to add effects and filters to photos is becoming increasingly popular. Instagram implemented it long ago, Twitter announced it recently and now Flickr who joins the party.
Yahoo, which owns Flickr, is giving users something they have requested for a long time: the ability to use filters on the photos you upload, and there are a total of 16 different filters available. Up here we have an example of the filter Narwhal.
Note that this update is for filters app Flickr, which now also allows us to more easily check and has some new features.
There is no doubt that the phenomenon is spreading fast camera offers.

Bing will be the default browser of Kindle Fire HD

What a surprise! Both Microsoft and Amazon itself has confirmed that the new Kindle Fire tablet HD use the search engine Bing as the default search engine.
Apparently, this agreement is very recent and the latest details of it were agreed yesterday.Besides appearing in the default HD Fire, Bing also will welcome in the new models of Kindle Fire (original) to be sold from now on.
If you, like me, do not like Bing, then do not worry, you can set another search engine like Google , Yahoo!, etc.. according to your preferences.

Nvidia confirms the theft of user data on your forums

Nvidia has confirmed that forums for users of its website have suffered a stroke that has resulted in the theft of user information. The company has confirmed that names, passwords and email addresses have been removed, but has not determined the number affected. For now the forums are closed and the company is working to locate faults in the system and power back on.
Large companies continue to be the target for cyber criminals, who see in their systems a unique opportunity to access large databases of users. In recent months there have been known major violations have resulted in important data theft. For example, LinkedIn data were extracted from 6.4 million users and more recently Yahoo has confirmed the theft of data from 400,000 people.
The user information has become a great asset and new cases of theft are soon to appear. The latter has to Nvidia as a sad character. In this case, hackers have breached the protection systems user forum, obtaining access to information of the participants in it.
Nvidia explained that last week found "suspicious activity" on their forums, after which "immediately began an investigation." The company explained that its engineers have been working "day and night" and have determined that "unauthorized parties have access to certain information from users."
Specifically, user names, email addresses, passwords and profile information has been compromised. The company explained that in their system passwords are encrypted, so the risk is lower. Despite this, Nvidia has recommended that users change their password if it is the same used in other service. When forums are restarted new password will be provided.
So far Nvidia has not specified the number of users affected. The firm has secured chip makers to continue "investigating the issue and working to restore the forums as soon as possible." In addition, Nvidia has confirmed that use "additional security measures to minimize the impact of future attacks."
Finally, to avoid scams phishing with stolen data, Nvidia has stated that "does not request confidential information via email. The company has recommended the bank or provide personal information in response to" any email that claims to have been sent by an employee or representative of Nvidia ".

Facebook and Yahoo closed its patent battle

SAN FRANCISCO (Reuters) - Facebook and Yahoo reached an agreement Friday to form a society of Internet advertising and licensing, ending their demands for ownership of patents.

The settlement resolves allegations of technology patent violation that began under the administration of former Yahoo CEO Scott Thompson, who was later fired after a scandal over inaccuracies in his resume. Sources told Reuters that the chief executive (CEO, for its acronym in English) procedure, Ross Levinsohn, is the favorite to take the job.

The strategic agreement between Facebook and Yahoo - that expands an existing partnership that allows Facebook users to share content on Yahoo - includes patent cross-licensing and collaboration deals media advertising during major events like the Olympics or the Super Bowl.

"I am pleased that we could resolve this in a positive way and are looking forward to working with Ross and the directors of Yahoo," he said in a statement Sheryl Sandberg, Facebook's chief operating officer and newest member of the board.

Yahoo, which once was the most distinctive Internet company, has struggled to accommodate a digital world dominated by companies like Apple, Google, Facebook and Twitter.

Its board has gone through several problems since it rejected a takeover offer from Microsoft for 44,000 million dollars (about 35.851 million euros) in 2008 and had four CEOs in four years. The company did not say when a decision on a permanent CEO.

Demand for Yahoo had motivated some criticism that tried to get some money from a company that was about to go public in the largest IPO in Silicon Valley.

Facebook sued in March, saying the biggest social network in the world had violated ten patents, including several covering online advertising technology. In its application, Yahoo said that Facebook was considered "one of the worst performing advertising pages" before adopting the ideas of Yahoo.

Facebook, which became public in May, filed a countersuit a month later and myopic Yahoo ranked for its decision to prioritize "litigation innovation."

Facebook has been strengthening its patent arsenal. In April, announced an agreement to pay Microsoft $ 550 million for hundreds of patents that created AOL.
