IPhone users Apple may not have loved the Maps application for the company, but the app was used more than any other in the smartphone from Apple in 2012 according to Nielsen data.
It is estimated that Maps was used by about 32.4 million iPhone users monthly, surpassing even Facebook which reached 28.6 million.
We all know that Maps was a major disaster for Apple, even the company's CEO, Tim Cook, apologized about it. Earlier this month Google Maps for iOS was released in June and became extremely popular in a few hours.
Notably, the Nielsen study used data only from January to October, so the app from Google did not enter the list.
The full top 10 is as follows:
1 - Apple Maps 2 - Facebook 3 - YouTube 4 - Stocks 5 - Weather 6 - Facebook Messenger 7 - The Weather Channel 8 - Twitter 9 - Pandora Radio 10 - Instagram
A few days ago I commented that Google had launched its Maps application for iOS 6 , the new version of mobile operating system Apple . According to MoPub, updates iOS 5 to iOS 6 rose by 29% in recent days following the launch of the Google Application above. What does this mean?
Well obviously that many do not want to upgrade because of the known
problems and mapping application from Apple, but now that Google has
come to save the day, things are very different.
MoPub found that looking at the data of 12,000 applications which support. The CEO of the firm says it is very likely that this surge of updates to iOS 6 is due to Google's Maps. This would confirm the hypothesis that many people were waiting for the release of this app .
Google Maps has become the most downloaded application from time to
only 7 hours of being launched and in two days and had over 10 million
users.
A new feature
of the new operating system Apple iOS 6 has been the removal of Google
Maps that has been replaced by a mapping application from Apple itself.
By now you may already know this and also have also read that Apple
maps are full of errors in several areas of the world to the point that
buildings and roads appear disfigured.
At first, this error on Google maps became fun, many social network
users have posted pictures showing these visual bugs but it seems that
the issue will move on to something more serious.
For now, the Irish Government has been the first to jump asking Apple
to quickly solve the problem as a matter of public safety.
Specifically, the case of Ireland focuses on a site in south Dublin which is installed in a park.
This park has the curious name of 'Airfield Park' and it seems that
this name containing the word 'Air' has led to confusion in the
application of maps marked Apple because it appears as an airport.
Quite worrying if a plane or plane ever come to think that here is an
airport where there are only families picnicking on the grass and
children playing on swings.
These errors are scattered map areas affecting cities around the world where roads are not even really exist. It seems that Apple could have serious problems if there is some kind of incident maps. Would this happen if Jobs was still in charge of Apple?
