The netbooks are dying, but are not yet finished. Last year they sold over 10 million units worldwide, while the forecasts for small handheld market is not encouraging. These machines began to emerge in 2007 and 2008, reached its peak in 2010 and began a hard period from 2011 onwards. While the concept of a low-cost laptop was very striking in a world where smartphones and tablets just beginning to emerge, things are very different today. Today, consumers expect their laptops are capable of anything other than to access the Internet and do basic things.
As always, manufacturers create what the market demand, and the market is demanding almost netbooks. According to a report from iSuppli, estimates that shipments of netbooks this year did not exceed 4 million units and end up disappearing sector in 2015 . The best time of netbooks was in 2010 as we said, when it sold more than 32 million units around the globe.
The truth is that today any large company is focused on making netbooks. Apple, Samsung, Nokia, LG, Sony and the rest prefer to invest their money in the development of better laptops, smartphones and tablets. The technology is advancing rapidly, and the rise and fall of netbooks is the best proof of that.
