A mixture of Wii and Kinect want to change the man-machine interaction

Another thing is that it succeeds. Because if something we have been taught that betting systems to revolutionize the interaction systems is that their results are not always as good as expected. In this case, the initiative is called Leap Motion and consists of a device that sits in front of a monitor and is able to recognize the hand movements of users to be reflected in the computer without any contact.
Motion Leap can be considered as a remix of that seen in Wii and Kinect. The philosophy is the same as in the other two systems, converting the user's own command and control. The idea is to apply the Motion Leap philosophy navigation on a PC, allowing interaction with its various elements without actually touching the screen or mouse and keyboard.
The device, with a rectangular shape, is situated at the bottom of the screen and the user must place his hands in an elevated position on Leap Motion. According to the creators of the system, have developed a 3D recognition technology with specific software, allowing users a completely new interaction.
Its creators say Leap Motion "is more accurate than a mouse, as reliable as a more sensitive keyboard and a touch screen." In addition, they promise that the system is "200 times more accurate than anything else on the market", which promises much considering the advances in the field of motion recognition from Microsoft has been achieved with Xbox .
The device is about the size of an iPod and connects to the computer through a USB key. From their website they promise that the system is very easy to install, noting that its release is as important "as the first day of the mouse", but simpler because users do not need to learn to use it.
In his video presentation, you can see that Leap Motion to get around various activities and services of a PC in the style of Minority Report. Motion Leap makes virtually simulate the interaction that achieved with touch screens, but without touching.
As for the functions that can be performed, the test shows that Motion Leap shares and as such established pinch the screen to zoom or scroll to make a simple gesture are possible. The system promises high accuracy and can be applied to design programs, video games of all types and billing and office applications or browsing.
This is an innovative, useful for certain activities but perhaps completely for others. Its design and apparent ease of use are its great strengths. The device and can be booked and costs $ 70 (56.3 euros).
