Sometimes the technology is more than an improvement in the processor or the amount of memory. Sometimes technology focuses more on the user than the phone itself. Qualcomm and RAY Project, through the Wireless Reach initiative, presented a new mobile phone that can be used by people with little or no vision. It is a mobile which always stays on (unless the battery is exhausted), it is very easy to use, multi-function and content available as audiobooks.
Today, the majority of blind people use simple mobile 2G only for calls. Besides this, many other readers need devices like audio-books, readers of colors, navigation tools, scanners, large buttons and several other similar things that can sometimes be very expensive. Apparently, the RAY mobile terminal is based on a Qualcomm originally ran Android, and the device has been turned into a smartphone that can perform the functions of several of the aforementioned devices, besides that its price would not be high and the user interface would be designed specifically for use by blind or visually impaired.
For now the phone is being tested by 100 people in Israel. The truth is great that companies carry out this type of project, and is even better when it manages to be successful.
