The refrigerator that has no doors and only when you have something inside cools

The world of home refrigerators or refrigerator seems to have had a significant evolution since the first manufactured, but occasionally appears an idea that seems to point to what could be this type of appliances in a few years.
This is precisely one of the refrigerators futuristic designs that I found curious for two reasons. One is that it has no doors, only the second is what cools you entered inside. If you have not saved anything into not spending power.
The concept comes from a student at Massey University who presented a project for the Electrolux Design Lab Award, a worldwide contest organized by the multinational appliance looking ideas.
The fridge is composed of several blocks placed in hexagonal mosaic as a honeycomb. Each of these blocks can be pressed inwards to save a can of soda as you can see in the picture above. The hexagonal design means you can store objects in vertical or diagonal as milk cartons or juice would occupy two or three of these blocks. The refrigerator cools only those blocks that have been refilled, so it is also energy efficient.
Looking at the front of the appliance can have an overview of all you have saved. The only problem I find is that not everything that you usually have in the fridge is the same size, but the idea seems interesting to store bottles, cans, tetra-brick and the like. Maybe someday start seeing TV commercials announcing fridges like this.
