University MacBooks install vending machines, another sign of the times

http://i.imgur.com/Wag54.jpg

Vending machines are no longer what they were, despite the 'crisis' have lately proliferated world such machines that offer gold and diamonds , even provides you some beers but not in the classic style, but the style ' rugby '. The meeting is the last one you see in the image below, is installed at Drexel University and does not give you donuts or juice, but MacBooks.

The machine itself will not sell laptops, but you rent them for hours in case you forgot yours at home or you've lost. Just you go to the machine, enter the student card and have the MacBook for 5 hours. Sounds like a great idea too if you do not want to take your computer from home and do not want to carry extra weight or want to avoid being stolen by the way if you think back late (or leaving college to go directly to a party) . When you return the computer hard drive is formatted to prevent some joker has no temptations to install malware, spyware and other malware. For now have a test machine running and if successful will be more, but I say nothing now and start to see similar machines near where you live.

Update video !

Invented the first rifle that works with Linux, weapons 'intelligent' take a step forward

http://i.imgur.com/mffU9.jpg

Someone once said that the "military intelligence" was a contradiction in terms, but what is undeniable is that the current weapons is becoming increasingly clever at times thanks to (or because of) new technologies. The rifle you see something below is manufactured by TrackingPoint and might seem a sniper rifle ordinary, but actually carrying a computerized system that ensures that des always on target. It works with the Linux operating system on board.

The gun is one of those inventions novel recently presented at the CES2013 and more than one will relate it with advanced weapons that appear in video games and classic titles like Counter Strike.

http://i.imgur.com/9pfm3.jpg

The system consists of a camera and a screen in the back to replace the classic peephole in these weapons. The computerized system captures images against the rifle, processes and shows you the screen on a grid. Then you just have to select the target you want to shoot and hold the trigger. Trying target until the target matches the grid and not worry about anything else, because when the direction is correct the system automatically triggers. Almost as in a video game, no matter if you have never shot a gun.

To top it off, the system can connect wirelessly to an iPad or iPhone screen from which you can help select the targets.

This means it is hard to fail, because computers never fail right?, At least if you use Linux, because someone will say that using another operating system obtuvieras perhaps what would be a nice blue background with many lyrics unintelligible above. In any case another invention designed to achieve technological eerily infallible weapon. If you want one you can buy for about 15,000 euros, including an iPad.

Urinal for children with iPad included, for future Bill Gates

http://i.imgur.com/djivJ.jpg

I can personally say that teaching a child to handle a computer goes through before letting a monitor with a mouse and keyboard in hand, leave it alone for an hour and when you come back you know handle it better. This innate tendency in smaller seems to have a great future in commercial because they have even invented the first potty (that I know) that comes with iPad included.

The funny thing is that the pot is designed for those children who can not yet speak or crawl and probably still is, that seems like a surefire way to keep them entertained while they are doing their physiological needs plus they are introduced to computing environments. On the other hand it also seems a way to go training them for a future in which they will spend more time looking at a screen doing something else.

If you would sell it for about 30 euros (obviously, the iPad or the tablet you want to use is not included, if not I would have asked me a couple), but for now no idea where you might find it because currently it is another of those curious inventions coming from CES2013 lately.

The asteroid Apophis is larger than previously thought, also more dangerous

http://i.imgur.com/D3sBg.jpg

One of the most famous asteroid Apophis is now, surely you read about the news of all kinds, basically because it is known that the space object is a real threat to life on our planet. These days Apophis is getting closer to Earth and this has led some astronomers to better investigate. The result: they have discovered that it is much larger than thought, has almost twice the mass of what is thought. Therefore, its danger potential increases.

Perhaps someone thinks that the Mayans failed in his prediction for a few days, but the truth is that the distance that Apophis will approach is very large, more than 15 million miles away, so the risk is negligible. However, it is expected that in 2029 close again, but this time only 35,000 miles, or slightly above our heads with a planned crash risk of 2.7%. In fact there are now artificial satellites orbiting Earth at that altitude.

It is possible that in that year the asteroid pose a serious problem to deal with, but the approach is making these days is far enough so that you can not even see it as a bright spot in the sky with the naked eye. If you can use a telescope to see it real or take a look at this virtual telescope from your computer.

Slimming machine invented infallible: aspiring food directly from your stomach

http://i.imgur.com/MHoFS.jpg

One of the inventions that are pursued over many years is one that allows you to lose weight at will but not in any way, obviously the goal is to get it without having to sweat doing physical exercise and, of course, not to eat anything that you like. More than anything not to alter the consumer society in which we live. This invention could be the ideal candidate in this regard it not because it is a way to say 'extreme' to get it, but it seems to work 100%: a machine that absorbs food directly from your stomach and out of your body expels . Disgustingly effective.

The invention works in this way will firstly your stomach surgically implanted in a valve connected to an external device through a tube. You sit in front of a banquet and start eating. Within 20 minutes of finishing the device starts up and begins to 'suck' food directly from your stomach throwing out. Literally would be equivalent to vomit even without noticing unpleasant effects (at least if you do not think what is happening).

Once you've finished entering the second half performance. The same device starts pumping water from a bag directly into your stomach, so you do not notice 'emptiness'. Basically it is a hoax, you eliminate food and water while you replace your brain keeps you feeling full because you have to scrape the dish eaten with half a loaf of bread. A psychologist would call that bulimia which now seems to have TradeMark.

As a result what you get is 30% fewer calories per meal. In fact have tried to volunteers who have recently lost half of their excess weight and eat whatever they wanted. Another curious point is that the invention comes from the hand of Dean Kamen, the same who invented the Segway.

This screen mimics the sun 60,000 LEDs

http://i.imgur.com/PiHgT.jpg

This is not something, but he already has a couple of years, but we still have a lot of attention. We are talking about one of the creations of designer Rafael Lozano-Hemmer. Flatsun is a set of LEDs 60,000 and forming a screen that mimic the shape and color of the sun. It sounds difficult to do, but the truth is that these small LEDs does a great job of imitating the star of the solar system.
Lozano-Hemmer had to use math to create the spherical screen that creates the sun and having a diameter of about 1.4 meters. Obviously Flatsun is many millions of times smaller than the real sun, but also shines with great intensity.
Best of all, it is an interactive Flatsun. As people walk around or near the appliance is able to respond to movements. If you have a room full of people, the animation is very active again.

The new iPhone already has price

http://i.imgur.com/qRITX.jpg

A couple of days ago I commented that Apple was working on an iPhone with lowest price than standard models. It seems that now the device already exists, and it is, in fact, quite cheap to be the younger brother of the famous smartphone on the block.
Bloomberg The site says this low-end iPhone will be available for no more than $ 150, and also in some market price will be even lower, even to $ 100. The report also says that Apple site would work on this device since February 2011, almost two years.
One of the markets it is more designed this smartphone is Chinese, and really no surprise that the CEO of Apple, Tim Cook, has made a trip to China for a few days ago.
All indications are that the new low-end iPhone will be launched during the second half of the year. Its specifications are unknown for now.

Displair fog presents its multitouch screen

http://i.imgur.com/WCrm0.jpg

How far are we from achieving the advanced interfaces that can be seen in the movie Minority Report? Well, we are not very far indeed. The mist screens are not new, but Displair surprised us all two years ago when he unveiled a prototype fog screen with multitouch interface. But now the company has officially unveiled this technology and who have attended the 2013 CES will prove rotten.
This system, which is a little simpler than it appears, makes use of three things: the fog screen, a projector and an infrared camera.
Demonstrations have been held in the CES showed Displair screen with a projection of Windows 7 on it. A PlayStation Eye camera connected to the PC via USB is used to project an infrared light on the projection.
And we are almost ready. Now we just have to load an application like Google Earth or if we feel like we can give a little more realism to Fruit Ninja slicing fruits like they're in the air.
