The Canadian government says it RIM to resolve their problems

Short News

Canadian Finance Minister Jim Flaherty said Friday that Research In Motion is important for Canada and for the world, but any step to help the manufacturer of next-generation phones with their problems will be taken from the company.

Speaking to reporters in a conference call from Ireland, Flaherty also said he was unaware of proposal to buy the company, but noted that any offer should be reviewed by the Government.

RIM has suffered a contraction in demand for its smartphone BlackBerry, which once dominated the market. On Thursday, the company delayed the launch of the crucial next generation of BlackBerry 10 and announced an unexpected and significant loss in its quarterly operating profit and the dismissal of about 30 percent of its workforce.
