As announced yesterday, Nintendo sales between July and September were not expected, and in fact were below what the company expected. Not only selling the 3DS console is down, but even the popular Wii, as announced to have sold 10.5 million units by year's end, only reached 5 million.
As we said, the 3DS sales have also fallen and now Nintendo estimates that will not reach the sales that had planned. While in August and September sales were good, mainly thanks to the launch of the 3DS XL and some catchy titles, sales fell again in October. Still, it is noteworthy that the total sales of the 3DS in 2012 will exceed those that were last year.
Moreover, this is not an issue that only affects Nintendo, but the industry videogames in general. Many do not know why that is, but it seems pretty clear that the device market mobile is having something to do, because every time out best tablets and smartphones capable of running better games.
For now, the eyes of many focus on the new Nintendo Wii U to be released in November .
