Finally, after many months, the use of Android 4 has exceeded that has version 2.3, Gingerbread. With Android 4 refers not only to Ice Cream Sandwich (4.0), but also to Jelly Bean (4.1 and 4.2). For the first time, Android 4 is the major dominant sector.
Today, of all existing Android smartphones, 45.1% use Ice Cream Sandwich and Jelly Bean, while Gingerbread gets 44.2%, but if we look at individual values the 2.3 version would remain the number 1.
Regarding the less popular versions, Honeycomb has 1.2% of the total, 1.9% pose Eclair, Froyo 7.6% and 0.2% Donut old.
No doubt that Gingerbread has proved a platform not only durable, but also very well received. The above values continue to show that Android is still quite fragmented, and for sure it will continue for many years. Obviously this is not good for developers, who tend to get apps that are more compatible with newer versions as Ice Cream Sandwich and Jelly Bean, but if you really want to have a larger scope should also make them compatible with the old version of Gingerbread.
