This optical fiber transfers data at nearly the speed of light

The optical fiber is very rapid, indeed, is faster than any other type of connection when data is transferred. At the University of Southampton , UK, has been created an optical fiber unusual. It is a hollow fiber having air inside and is capable of transferring data at nearly the speed of light . More precisely, fails to reach 99.7% of that speed.
To give us an idea, this transfer rate is about 10 terabytes per second. Exactly, 10TB / s, ie about 1000 times faster than the best optical fibers found in the market today.
You probably already have heard before about the hollow optical fiber cables. The idea has been around for a while but always detected data loss when wires must make a curve. People at the University of Southampton has managed to minimize the loss of data and has a transfer at lightning speeds.
We should not get excited yet. This connection will be available to us recently in several years.Initially is expected to be used in data centers and governmental and scientific supercomputers.
